Dr. Hughes is an Assistant Professor at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle. He is board certified in internal medicine and rheumatology. Dr. Hughes is a physician-scientist whose current research focuses on how female sex steroids such as progesterone control inflammation and autoimmunity in patients with lupus. He also sees patients at Seattle's Harborview Medical Center, where he is the Interim Section Chief for Rheumatology.
Dr. Hughes received his undergraduate degree in biology from Oregon State University and his medical degree from the Oregon Health and Science University. He completed his internal medicine residency and rheumatology fellowship at the University of Washington in Seattle.
